Default Is there an ideal time?

I'm trying my best to watch what I eat so that I can lose a little weight.

Is there an ideal time for eating - or a very bad time for NOT eating?

Is it best to eat something every few hours, rather than set meals?

Hope someone can help me.

I found that if I eat 3 sensible meals a day eg breakfast, lunch then dinner, and then a snack like half a peanut butter sandwhich whenever, I lose weight. If I skip breakfast I don't lose weight. I think that if you eat at sensible times with a reasonable gap in between, the weight should come off. Also, sometimes the hungry feeling you get maybe just that you are thirsty, so also drink plenty of water. I eat breakfast at about 7.30am, lunch at 1pm and then dinner at 6.30pm. I have my snack usually at about 8pm. So far I have lost 9 lbs in just under 3 wekks.

That seems really sensible. The faddy diets seem to be the ones that never work as you are really hungry. I don't know how people survive on 3 milky drinks a day and stuff like that.

Keep going you are doing great, this site has a real feel good factor about it.

I think personally that spacing your meals out through the day, with plenty of water, is always best no matter what your goals are.
Certainly breakfast should never be skipped. It's been my belief that your body doesn't know that the supermarket is just down the road, it still thinks it's in a cave 100,000 yrs ago. So giving it the signal that there is a food shortage first thing in the morning only makes it slow down your metabolism and hold on to fat until this 'famine' has passed.
Giving your body the message in the morning that food is plentiful and there is no need to store fat for future 'hardtimes' is the way forward to a leaner more heathly you.
That's the way i look at it anyways.

A few little pearls
ALWAYS it breakfast, even if you are not hungry. Its starts your metabolism, as previouly said.
I was always told to eat little and often.
Chew 20 times. This seems strange, but there are "stress receptors" in the jaw, if you chew 20 times, the receptors talk to the stomach, and to the brain, and you will stop eating when you ARE full, so you dont over indulge.
Never eat carbs (or is that at all) after 5. Your body just stores it overnight. will get back to you on this one, I will double check.

I know what I have said applys to people that are trying to lose weight, but I myself am 9st5, and have been for the last 7 years. I am skinny, too skinny, and trying desperatly to put a little on. This was the advice passed to me, not to lose or gain, but to eat correctly.

Hope this helps some

Looks like all pearls to me!

Would like to read more about the carbs after 5 rule Bobba when you can track it down.

QUOTE FROM WEB

The “No Carbs after 5 PM” diet, also known as the Carbs Curfew diet among the aficionados, is based on the idea that you don’t have to try all that hard to lose weight. Simply cutting off all carbohydrates after 5 PM is supposed to be enough for weight loss purposes. Not eating any carbohydrates after 5 PM serves to lower the overall intake of calories for the day, while eating more protein than usual helps make you feel full in a healthy way. this is a simple eating plan that can be understood by anybody in no time. No complex formulae here.

Hope it helps!!

Olli

That makes sense it can't be good to sleep on a full stomache. Shame my work pattern doesn't quite fit in.
