Smile quitting tomorrow

Hi all

Tomorrow is the day for me. I am up to my eyes in debt, I am counting every penny but still manage to find money for cigarettes. I am ashamed of myself. I have a 9 month old baby, who I would do anything for but it's taken me this long to admit that if it wasn't for my smoking habit I could spend more on him, not that he goes without but we are living in a flat and would love to move to a house with a garden but cannot afford the rent. If I give up smoking that would give us probably around an extra £100.00 per month and if I give up maybe my husband will too and then we'll have an extra £200.00 per month which is loads of money. I'm horrified at how much we spend on cigarettes, when all we do is worry about money!! Anyway tomorrow is the day. I've tried loads of times before and always gone back to it but what better incentive than a gorgeous baby boy who is the best thing in my life. So please wish me luck. It's going to be tough!

Don't look at it as "giving up" but merely setting yourself free from the slavery! (Allen Carr "easyway", fab book and definately worth the read) I have been off ciggies for 10 weeks, with the odd microtab for the times I feel I may cave in. Its been easier than I thought but still bloody difficult at times, but these times do get easier, and further between.
My advice would be to prepare yourself properly. before you quit and be prepared for the pitfalls. Money is a good incentive to stop, but remember also that you now have a dear little man to look after, who needs his mum healthy and calm. Believe me you feel so much calmer, once the nicotine monster stops banging on at you for a fix! lol

Good luck

My first attemp - I went cold turkey and failed miserably. Then went onto patches - didn't work. I lasted through the day and 'rewarded' myself in the evening by taking the patch off and having a smoke. I know I'm rubbish.

So have gone to the smoking clinic at my dr's and they suggested Champix as I have tried almost everything else over the years. I am on day 5 now and actually don't feel like I want to smoke as much. I also haven't experienced any adverse side effects yet. Which is good news. I'm moving house this weekend so I am aiming to stop completely either Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Smile Re: quitting tomorrow

my last cigarette was smoked on 11th June!!!! I am feeling so proud of myself. It's not been that bad actually. I started on the champix which helped enormously to begin with but the last week I have forgotten to take it a few times but haven't reached for the fags.

I have wanted to smoke but the cravings have been less intense and less frequent so have managed. I keep drinking loads of water and that has helped too!
