As long as you can keep your work life and private life seperate it can work out. If its your boss itsnot such a good idea.

I would say if its your boss its not a good idea. You could fine yourself in a very difficult position should the relationship not work out. It could also cause friction with other workers if they see you as getting favouritism. Perhaps you ought to consider a transfer or change of jobs if you really like him.

I think you're right. I misread the signals and he is only interested in my intellectual ability. That is why he has asked me to accompany him on a business trip to Paris this weekend. He said he thought I was the most efficient worker he knew and normally would not be expecting to take a secretary away for the weekend until they had worked together much longer. He obviously thinks very highly of my ability to be trusting my skills this early on.

It is a strictly business relationship from now on. He's even talking about sending me on some night classes so that I can become a legal executive. Its really nice to have someone recognise me for my brains foronce. I worked for my old boss for years and she never once suggested evening classes but was forever putting me down and pulling me up over every tiny mistake. Its great that Rupert recognised my ability and I don't want to jeopardise that by coming on to him

Relationship with a work colleague was your title and can it work
depends on the people involved really
20yr ago i had a "fling" with my boss, and it lasted approx 3yrs.
I walked away from it much to his disapproval
bout 6mths ago i was sat on N/S filling in notes in the office and who should walk in..................... yup i froze, he froze.
Only way to look at it was 20yr wasted i guess the feelings are no different now to what they were then, so yes it can work and 20yr later hes STILL my boss
Only regret i married an idiot in between
hope your trip went well
honey x

Oh dear Scarlet - I'm sorry to hear things didn't work out with Rupert or work. What went wrong and what are your plans now?
Have you found another job yet?
