Re: Alex Quits, Continued.
One of the best explanation's he comes up with goes something like this.
We (the smokers) think a ciggy helps us deal with a stressful situation.
He PO Po's this with the fact that the nicotine in our system is delivered quickly by a ciggy, but it is also quick to leave. So we are having a stressful day, and we (or our addiction does) want a ciggy. We have a fag and the craving subsides but the stress is still there. We think the ciggy has reduced the stress, all it has done is feed the little monster for a short time.
So it's like this :-
nicotine
STRESS
have a ciggy.
STRESS
We feel a bit better, all we have done is feed our addiction, but we thank the ciggy.
Hope that makes a bit of sense, there is a lot more in book to help make the reality of this addiction appear clear in our minds
